With the holidays coming around, people sometimes get worried about enjoying the food, while staying on track with their weight, nutrition, and fitness. The holidays are a great time to enjoy good food, family, and friends! So you don’t have to let your diet derail great memories and family fun! Just don’t over do it with the food, and get right back on track the right way! Here I am going to go over how you can be eve more effective during your workouts, and turn your body into a fat burning machine!

If you’re going to the gym to simply run on the treadmill for 30 – 40 – 60+ minutes at a time, you’re actually not getting the best overall calorie burn you can! In fact, you can use your time to burn even more calories, and increase your muscular tone and strength! I’m talking about lifting weights! Utilizing free weights, machines, cables, bodyweight conditioning, and any other type of resistance training, will greatly increase your calorie burn over time, and increase your overall body composition! Think about it this way, when you run on a treadmill for 30 minutes, you are burning calories during that time, but that time only, You get off and your body is pretty much done burning calories from that workout. However, when you do resistance training, your body needs to repair and recover, which requires calories to be burned. So not only are you burning calories and fat during your workout, but also for the following 24 – 48 hours! That’s a lot more progress! So invest your time wisely, and incorporate resistance/weight training if you’re not already!

I recommend using a piece of cardio equipment for about 10 minutes to warm up, then performing 45 – 60 minutes of resistance training about 3 – 5 times per week for best results!
